Updated the tutorial. It shows 0x80080005 error. If you manually install updates, you will hide all of your Win10 and telemetry patches anyway. I solved the problem in the following way (as suggested here): Stop the Windows Update and Application Experience services (if they don't stop, disable them and then reboot) Delete everything inside Choose windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe for 64bit W7 or windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe for 32bit W7 Download KB-3138612 and save it where you can find it later Download SUR Tool save it to same place Restart the So now I tried the KB missing from before, and behold: I could now install that update, and everything is now fine. http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/388287-windows-update-not-working-hangs-while-searching-updates.html I downloaded and installed seven of these files and now it's downloading updates like it didn't know any better.

Also not related but I've tried to download updates from non direct links on chrome and it didn't work on 2 computers, had to use IE.
