Skype was alerting me and when I quit it, it let go of my task bar which now auto-hides beautifully. Same if the taskbar is on the bottom (no access to footers, Ok or Next) o on the right where you cannot exit [x] programs. I AM USING WINDOWS 7-64 BIT. Thanks! Annoying them seems to have been the answer to me. Find explorer.exe and end process. I started getting it a lot recently and was getting really fed up.
