I generally use Ctrl+F to fin something in the current document and Ctrl+Shift+F to search in the whole solution. To make sure it won't disappear I'm copying the solution from Martin Rosselle here: Please check if the following registry key is ok. Hope this helps someone. If it's the right Ctrl key + ScrLk, pressing the left Ctrl is not going to resolve the issue.

There are reports Ctrl + ScrLk may need to be used instead of Ctrl+Break . Fixing this solved the issue for me. Visual Studio-->Windows-->Reset Window Panel.
