Consistently gets stuck on the "Starting Wii Menu" screen, asking me to use the Wii remote to choose a display option. It should start flashing for about 30 secs or so.

Please contact Nintendo Consumer Service for more information. Verify that the Wii Remote's pointer lens is free of obstructions and contamination (stickers, heavy smudges, etc.). Infrared light in the gameplay area such as electric, propane or kerosene heaters, flames from fireplaces or candles, and stoves or other sources of heat. Try closing your blinds, otherwise I think your remote is busted. Now I thought that at that screen a light was supposed to come on on the Wii remote? good luck 12/14/2010 by oldturkey03 Worked perfectly when I tried to sync my rock candy remote to my Wii. I could order a new one for $10 plus $5 shipping. If it still doesn't work, try and borrow a remote from someone and test it - if that works, your remote is the problem and needs replaced. It's because the Remote is connected, so the buttons work, but the camera on the front of the Remote is not detecting the Infrared (IR) light from the sensor bar.
