Not saying that's what it is but maybe you both have the same sound card and it is the same problem. I have no such problems. Click on the Flash video to activate the Flash plugin (only on Flash plugin installed Windows XP SP2 or newer), then right click on video to display the Flash properties menu. this was driving me crazy as i had tried many other suggestions with no succcess and the CCleaner suggestion worked hackingduo It was good and it worked with my system. dave flash wont allow me to check the box either and slider doesn't save either. click on: Hkey_localmachine/software/microsoft/windowsNT/Drivers32....... Other plugins, like Real and Quicktime, also do not produce sound, but Windows Media Video IN IE ONLY does produce sound.

If the option is grayed out, then that particular registry fix is not needed. One thing I noticed though is that I cant control the volume of whatever is playing (youtube video, etc...).
