AFAICS, your drive requires professional data recovery. Could u tell me how to format, if the computer doesnt recognise the external hard drive ?. Idk if it's just that certain model...could be driver issues with xp. That should take care of it. In case the answer did not answer your question, you can always visit the WD Community for help from WD users.
